Summer 2022 Edition
With sun-kissed cheeks, weekend getaways to the beach and movie nights under the stars, endless summer days are upon us! The turn of the season ushers in a vision we imagined for a lifestyle-oriented luxury design firm. Two decades later, we are proud to announce those dreams being realized through our newest division SH Hospitality and the opening of our latest venture, Wickwood Inn. Our summer issue celebrates graceful design, the art of relaxation and Mother Nature’s offerings. Sit back, grab an ice cold drink, and take in the season’s reverie!
– Shea & Martin
Described as “refreshed” with a “luxurious twist,” Chicago Magazine named the Wickwood Inn as one of the six best places to stay in Southwest Michigan. Highlighting our rooms outfitted with the comforting luxury of linens by Matouk and Waterworks distinctive fixtures, we’re honored to be included in the round-up!
The legendary magazine that has expert ideas on how to simplify your everyday life, recently gave us some love in their July issue. Celebrating the dreamy magnetism of Saugatuck, Real Simple shined a light on the 11 unique guest rooms of the “newly refreshed” Wickwood Inn.

refined elegance of the Taj Lake Palace, India is an otherworldly adventure that gets better with every visit.”

Travel Diaries
Portugal
A country brimming with culture, history, and lovely pops of color, Portugal is a feast for the senses. Martin’s highlights included the mouth-watering culinary scene, the gothic and baroque architecture that enveloped Lisbon, and the hand painted azulejos that covered the walls of churches, murals and train stations.
“Every corner I turned was a delight.”

The Business of Design
They say you’re judged by the company you keep – which is one reason among many we’ve always been discerning about the brands we partner with in our businesses and incorporate into our designs. Our clients seek luxury, whether at home or away – and our brand partners are strategically chosen to deliver the touch, style, quality, and reputation they expect. The Wickwood Inn provides just one example. From thoughtfully curated La Bottega amenities to sumptuous Matouk linens, the Wickwood caters to our guests’ high expectations for promise and performance. Read more about our brand partners, and the uncompromising quality of their products, here.
Design As Incentive
For a renowned real estate developer and property operator admired for his exceptional quality level, progressive sophistication was the watchword to attract young talent to his business. Cultivating and fostering a positive, inviting work environment was of the utmost importance to our client, which extended to not only the indoor meeting spaces and the communal kitchen which was intentionally designed to encourage interaction, but also the bright outdoor areas where employees could take their breaks.
Introducing: Nest
As part of our We Care initiative, Soucie Horner was delighted to host Nest – a non-profit working to build a new handworker economy through economic inclusion, gender equity, cultural diversity, and preservation of craft – at our office. Nest allows us as designers to champion artisan makers from 120+ countries around the globe. But artisans aren’t the only ones who benefit – so do our clients, whose homes we like to infuse with ethically produced, luxury handcrafted products. The kinds of products that add life. Tell stories. And communicate soul. Because we believe, as Nest does, that craft – the second largest employer of women globally – is a means to correct the gender and income imbalance in our world. All while making it a more beautiful place.
New Colors and a New Style!
A Charming Beach Town…
An easy hop from the lush terrain of Charleston, a new project overlooking clear waters and pristine sand is currently in progress on Sullivan’s Island. Designed to serve as a quiet sanctuary for the off season and a destination gathering point for friends and family during the busier months, this lovely barrier island was once home to Edgar Allen Poe.
