Let Wickwood Spoil You For The Holidays

The Holidays at Wickwood Inn are a very special time of year!  As you make your holiday plans, so do we. Along with the scents of fresh garlands, our kitchen stirs with wonderful aromas that will make you smile and say, “This smells like Christmas!”.  Outside our doors, the horse-drawn carriage rides, Christmas parade and carolers prep for joyous festivities.  And we work tirelessly to ensure that our guests know that while there’s no place like home for the holidays.  Wickwood comes pretty close.

It’s no surprise that we love to pamper our guests with good food.  We’re sort of a foodie paradise.  It’s the sweetest amenity we offer you, especially given Julee’s 25-year New York Silver Palate gourmet food shop career and five award winning cookbooks. Our menus change daily and by the seasons because we love to support our local growers and artisan food producers. We feel that eating well is a very important part of your getaway, and often the very reason you return to Wickwood.

The Holidays At Wickwood | Here’s How We Do It

  • Farm To Table Breakfasts

Pear Clafouti, Cornbread, Roasted Pepper & Cornbread Pudding with Maple Syrup, Fennel & Pistachio Sausage Patties, Cranberry Cake, Cardamom Pecan Cake, Five Citrus Salad with Honey, Mint & Pomegranate Seeds…and much, much more.  We make it all in Wickwood’s kitchen.  Sometimes we share the recipes on our website, on our blog and in our newsletter.  So please follow us/sign up to see recipes to make your Wickwood Inn favourites in your kitchen!

  • Afternoon & Evening Sweets

The English do things right with a pause in the afternoon for tea.  As do we, with a hot drink and a sweet by the fire which is a break that we love to offer our guests.  This holiday season some of the sweets at Wickwood Inn are: Butterballs, Chocolate Bites, Pecan Squares, Chocolate Jumbles and Vanilla Sables. Sweets service is perfectly timed to welcome arriving guests.  And, as you retire for the evening, don’t forget to taste a treat from the evening sweets spread: Almond Bark, Chocolate Truffles, Chocolate Covered Strawberries & Sweet Meats.

  • Sips & Small Plates Hour

Our love for great food continues as we gather every evening at 6pm around candle lights.  Savor a glass of wine, and a dazzling array of flavours with a charcuterie board of our own house made meats, cheeses, chutneys and so much more. This hour takes on a magic of its own as guests share stories of travel, food and Saugatuck experiences.  Delicious small plates include:  Zucchini Frites, Squash & Prosciutto Crostini with Mango Chutney, Roasted Peppered Cauliflower, Maple & Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, Sausage Pinwheels, Cheddar Olives, Artisanal Cheeses with Cranberry and Apple Chutneys

  • The Holidays in Saugatuck

Though Saugatuck is magical year-round, there’s something extra special about the Holiday Season along Lake Michigan. Plan your holiday getaway to Wickwood Inn and experience a small town holiday in charming Saugatuck.  Small-town businesses light up at night for you to browse, along with twinkling lights woven through the trees around the village.  And with our innkeepers’ inside scoops on the many things to do in Saugatuck, we ensure that you make the most of your stay during this very special time of year. You can also check out our newsletter calendar for a big list of events going on from now until the New Year! From horseback riding to cross country skiing, snowshoeing, maybe a sleigh ride and even a Holiday parade inspired by Whoville, you experience a true old-fashioned holiday when you visit Wickwood!

“Why… this sound sounded glad. Every Who down in Whoville, the tall and the small, was singing, without any presents at all!” ~ Dr. Seuss

  • The Warmth of the Inn

Maybe it’s our sense of humor and Silver Palate cooking, the fireplaces and the option of a cozy featherbed.  Or, it’s the candles and glowing holiday lights, our downtown boutique inn bursts with romance, energy and soul.

Regardless of what room you choose, each is inspired by the places Julee and Bill visited around the world.  We go beyond the traditional bed and breakfast experience to offer each room a private bath, Country French furniture and decorator fabrics.  Plus there are heavenly featherbeds, cozy Kashmere robes, luxurious linens, fresh flowers, radio/cd players, and complimentary Wi-Fi. We hope to anticipate all of your needs plus exceed them.

“Well, in Whoville they say – that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.”  ~  Dr. Seuss

  • Wickwood Inn’s Holiday Décor

It’s safe to say that we spare no corner from being touched by Christmas sparkle and holiday décor! Large Whimsical Penguins in red and white scarves greet you at the door. The wintery scent of eucalyptus, scotch pine, and juniper garland graces the Inn.  With sparkling wreaths and twinkling lights everywhere, it’s a fairyland of Holiday Magic!

  • Arrive a Stranger, Leave A Friend

We notice a trend at Wickwood. When our food lovers gather at our evening Sip and Small Plates Hour, they begin to forget about their phones.  We see guests swapping stories about their hometowns, or mutual love for books or the pecan sticky buns we serve at breakfast.  It is now quite the party!  And, new friendships begin over the love of good food.

And we are absolutely in love with creating a place where you can enjoy delicious food, feel pampered, fill your thoughts with twinkling lights and find a friend in the stranger who loves good food as much as you.

This holiday season, come home to Wickwood.  Reserve your stay now.
