“This year, we are excited to be featuring  patio, deck or balcony-sized containerized vegetable and fruit plants. Many folks who do not have the space for, or the time, to maintain a full-sized edibles garden. However, they can still ‘grow their own’ cucumbers, snap peas, peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, strawberries and more with the smaller, but excellent yielding container-friendly plant varieties we will be featuring at Artz & Gardens Tour.

It is very inspiring to see creative individual artists and gardeners pull together to put on such a fine event. As growers and garden designers with university art school backgrounds, we feel right at home with this Artz and Gardens community.

This area is renowned for its interest in, and support for, original and unique art works and horticultural products. We love it here!”

“This year there will be a preview opportunity to visit MothersPark: 15 acres of duneland trees along a stream. There are new sites planted to showcase heritage garden perennials, herbs, native wildflowers, permaculture edible, organic fruit trees, bushes, and heirloom plants. There are also raised bed and straw bale gardens. The “fairy doors” tucked here and there to discover are also new!

The fairy doors have been created by multimedia award-winning miniaturist Colleen DeVore. Colleen’s doors provide a treasure hunt in or around the gardens.

Guest artist, Steve Peters’, totemic repurposed welded metal sculptures grace the landscape outdoors and his ceramic sculptures and artifacts will be on display indoors.

I am so inspired here by the gentle forms of the curving dunelands rising above the waters on which trees make their homes. This is the driving force for ecstatic aesthetic expression of gratitude and the personal recycling of creative energy.

I love that artists tend to be welcomed here, and we reciprocate by welcoming visitors to become friends.”
