One of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten is the classic Basque Cake at Pennyroyal. Vanilla. Ethereal. Lightened with Crème Patisserie. Then there’s the surprise of the Strawberry Jam!  It looks innocent enough but it becomes on of your favorite memories of the best desserts in Saugatuck. Their Florentines and Raspberry Cheesecake are pretty dang special too.

At Bowdies, there’s the always light-as-a-feather, just made, warm Beignets. Served with 3 sauces that we love: blueberry, chocolate, and caramel. Plus, their Caramel Bread pudding gives you another reason to return.

Another place we head to for desserts in Saugatuck is Ida Reds.  When we’re at Idas and it’s warm outside, we head directly for their Banana Split. When the temperatures are a bit cooler, we find the warm rice pudding with whipped cream remarkable.  It’s homemade and it taste like!

At Clearbrook, we savor every last bite of the Chocolate Mini Lava Cake.  It’s ooey-gooey with its warm, flowing decadent chocolate center. Of course, when you order it a la mode, it’s even better!

There are so many good options at Farmhouse, and they create something new and wonderful daily.  Their Molasses cookies are superb, and their Chocolate Cake with a Coffee Au Lait topping is simply scrumptious. Oh, and their Coconut Macaroons dipped in chocolate are just one more reason this eatery has some of our favorite desserts in Saugatuck.

“A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.”

Guardian Brewing has some of our most favorite desserts in Saugatuck with a creative play on ‘Cookies And Milk’.  A combination of homemade cookies with homemade ice cream brings out our inner child! We dare you to decide the best combination: Chocolate Chip with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Peanut Butter with Popcorn Ice Cream (I know, this doesn’t sound like it should work, but it’s so delicious!), Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles with Vegan Salted Caramel Ice Cream.

At Phil’s, it’s the Chocolate Flourless Torte.  The cocoa-licious decadence satisfies us every time, one bite at a time.  And, if you love a great Ice Cream Sandwich, have one here!  Palazzolo’s, a local ice cream maker create this one with their vanilla bean ice cream and French chocolate sponge cake.

Virtue Cider doesn’t serve dessert, so we opt for the liquid variety. With the best selection of Michigan Ciders around, a flight sure feels like a dessert!
