The summer season continues to sizzle in Saugatuck! One of the most common refrains we hear at Wickwood Inn is, “We wish we could stay longer! There’s so much we still want to do!”

We get it. The beaches, shopping, restaurants, concerts, theater, art galleries, dunes, farmers’ markets, vineyards, museums … this little town knows how to have fun, and Wickwood Inn is at the center of it all! Our prime downtown location is perfect for walking or biking everywhere; otherwise, a short car ride easily gets you wherever you want to be.

One of the gifts of planning your summer getaway to Saugatuck, Michigan is that time here seems to stand still … or, at least it slows way down. Suddenly, space opens up and everything seems possible. It’s in this lovely mindset that we enjoy setting out on a treasure hunt. Saugatuck antique shops are some of the most amazing in all of Michigan! No matter what you’re hoping to find, you’re sure to have fun on while on the quest.

Start your Saugatuck antiques tour by simply strolling to Swell Times and Country Store Antiques in downtown Saugatuck. Swell Times is a colorful store will bring you back in time with 60’s,  70’s and 80’s memorabilia. Sort of like a retro movie museum, this shop is sure to delight. Country Store Antiques is a great place to kick off your hunt for treasure, because this store houses all kinds of history.

Next, jump on the Blue Star and head out for Amsterdam Antiques. Wander through the shop, the barn, and the expansive outdoor collection of architectural salvage. The collection of vintage dishes, doors, lamps, outdoor furniture and so much more will impress! Everything here has been carefully selected, and each piece is definitely worth a conversation. Simply browsing is a blast and is sure to intrigue and inspire!

Anderson’s School House Gallery offers an eclectic selection of books, furniture and art. Anderson’s is easy to find on M-89,  and if stopping here works up a thirst, you’re just minutes from Crane’s Orchards & Winery, Fenn Valley Winery, or Virtue Farms Cider. You can debate that purchase while enjoying a glass or a pint!

While in Fennville, you won’t want to miss Willow Bend Antiques & Garden Art. With 7 barns full of furniture, restaurant ware, garden art and gifts, this is a great place to explore.

Next up, visit Bird Cage Antiques. With bigger pieces, furniture, and a nice collection of vintage jewelry, there’s lots to see at this locals’ favorite.

Continue down the Blue Star to Sunset Junque … we love losing track of time while marveling at the what has found its way to this place: decorative ironware, statuary and sculpture, vintage musical instruments, record albums, books, vintage postcards, and all around funky junk. Be prepared to be amazed.

Returning toward Saugatuck on the Blue Star, you don’t want to skip the Saugatuck Antique Pavilion. With over 24,000 square feet of indoor antiques, this is considered one of the best antique shopping experiences in the country. You’ll love the wide aisles, well-organized stalls, and the friendly staff who is always ready to help. And yes, that is the Saugatuck Brewing Company right next door! Feel free to pause your treasure hunt at any time and sip an Oval Beach Blonde, Bonfire Brown, Boathouse Stout, Backyard IPA, or any of the other handcrafted beers being poured that day. The Brewery also offers a full menu and outdoor seating. Enjoy!

In downtown Douglas, be sure and stop at the Upscale Mercantile for vintage art and objects, including furniture, barware, garden decor and more.

Even though we encourage losing track of time, don’t forget the lavish array of appetizers waiting for you back at Wickwood Inn! With the incredible diversity of agriculture surrounding us, our Sips & Small Plates are bursting with fresh, new flavors every evening. Just now, we’re serving: Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Honeydew wrapped with Prosciutto, PLTs on Bok Choy, Shrimp & Crab atop Crostini, Margarita Flatbread, Romanesco Pinwheels, Salmon Mousse and Roasted Asparagus, Tiny Pepper Potatoes, Parmesan Fava Beans, Artisan Cheese & Charcuterie Board with Homemade Chutney’s and Mustards, and more.
