Saugatuck’s Kindel & Co.’s Inspires Us To Decorate More!

Our mood is altered before we even set foot inside Kindel & Company. It’s true! The whimsical and wonderful window displays draw us in. As soon as we’re inside of 241 Culver Street, we are eager to shop. Kindel NEVER disappoints, and it ALWAYS delights. This expertly curated store has something for everyone, and we love the emphasis on unique items for the men we love. There’s everything a man needs for wardrobe, home, and apothecary. Of course, there’s lovely jewelry, candles, clothing, and accessories for women, too.

“Clothes make the man.
Naked people have little or no influence on society.”
Mark Twain

Kindel is full of beautifully displayed new, vintage, and antique items. There’s an abundance of classic American brands that have stood the test of time. There are items found at flea markets in Europe and Antique Sales out east. We LOVE that Kindel is open year round AND that they completely change their windows, displays, and products 8 times a year to reflect the change in seasons. Right now, Kindel is full of holiday cheer. Their abundance of Christmas trees, lights, out-of-this-world ornaments, fragrant candles, and holiday accessories make all our spirits bright. Don’t even get me started about the fun that was had during their Mimosas and Markdowns Event!

The original Kindel & Co opened in the Grand Rapids area in 2004. The owners, Christopher Kindel and Richard Williams expanded to its second store in Saugatuck, May 2017.  We asked Christopher why he enjoys being part of the Saugatuck community. “We love the diversity of customers we get to interact with! I am happy to be a business owner in this community, and I look forward to continuing to help downtown Saugatuck change and grow. This year, I am proud that I participated in the Lighting Committee, bringing greater beauty and attention to Saugatuck in a season other than summer. Lots of people come in the summer. We must work harder in the off-season to keep Saugatuck beautiful and vibrant.”

“Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.”
~ Oscar Wilde
