Michelle Shaw Yoga In Saugatuck MI

Today, we’re proud to introduce you to Saugatuck, Michigan’s own Michelle Shaw Yoga. Freshly home from a second journey to India, Michelle recently completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Kia Miller and Radiant Body Yoga. This latest training trip to India was challenging, beautiful, intense, and so very rewarding. Training with 64 others from 20 different countries, Michelle’s deep immersion into awakening the self has taken her practice and her teaching to new levels.

Radiant Body Yoga (RBY) is a holistic approach to yoga which has its roots in the ancient Kundalini and Tantric traditions. These practices are designed to awaken each practitioner to their higher nature. They offer a potent combination of physical posture, breath work, kriya, meditation, and chanting. They increase strength, build vitality and create mental clarity.

A Yoga Journey

Even though Michelle’s journey with yoga began in 2004, it took more than a decade before she felt called to teach. While recovering from Carpal Tunnel surgery, Michelle took time off from her regular class schedule at the local studio. While healing, a friend suggested a monthly subscription to an online yoga service. Michelle regained her strength and renewed her passion for yoga. One day, intrigued by the name, she randomly selected an online class from Kia Miller. That class challenged, maybe even frustrated Michelle, but she was hooked. Something about this class brought her to an even deeper level of internal awareness, release, and growth.

“I met so much resistance in that first class with Kia, but deep within I knew something magical had happened and I wanted more.”

Classes with Kia became part of Michelle’s daily routine, and soon, Michelle wanted to share this powerful practice with others. Michelle’s first immersion with Kia Miller and Radiant Body Yoga was 23 days long and transformed Michelle’s life. She has been joyfully teaching yoga classes in and around Saugatuck ever since.

Michelle has continued training with Kia Miller wherever and whenever she could. Trainings took Michelle to the Mount Madonna Center in California, to the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania, and twice to the Sattva Center outside of Rishikesh, India. During her trainings, she’s done deep learning about anatomy, alignment, intelligent sequencing, breath work, meditation, philosophy, history, and culture of yoga. She also is one of the first 150 people in the world to be certified as a Kripalu Yoga In The Schools instructor. This powerful curriculum, designed with Harvard Medical School, delivers proven results to teenagers, prisoners, CEO’s, first responders, and FBI agents.
