This Halloween Parade…Is For The Grown Ups!

The weekend before Halloween, in charming Saugatuck, Michigan, is not to be missed. Join us for our 20th Annual Douglas Halloween Festival on Friday & Saturday, October 26, 27; as we demonstrate our creative spark with great flare for the dramatic!  Thousands of people travel here from far and wide to take part in our spirited Halloween parade every year.  Showcasing our community full of artists, the costumes get more elaborate and fantastic year after year.  And, of course the Parade gets longer and the parties bigger!

If I’m lazy and I can’t come up with a costume, I would just wear a slip and write ‘Freudian’ on it.

What – When – Where

We kick off the celebration on Friday with a family friendly Glow in the Park party at Cook Park Downtown Saugatuck (Next to the Butler Restaurant). There will be music, food and drink along with plenty of fun glow-in the-dark activities for the kids, even UV reactive face painting! Then on Saturday afternoon begin more Halloween festivities with the Annual Family & Pet Parade in downtown Saugatuck.  Every adorable kid and pet in the Saugatuck Douglas area will be parading through downtown.  And yes – in Saugatuck, the dogs will dress for Halloween!  Then Saturday evening, we put the kiddos (and pooches) to bed and have our Nighttime Halloween Parade for Adults, on Center Street downtown Douglas, no matter the weather! Our giant parade mascot, The Pumpkin King, rises from the ashes at 10pm near Beery Field to get the party started! You will find intrigue to pique your interest at every corner; as our hometown can throw a party like nobody else! Of course, our whole town gets involved. The restaurants and bars all join in with decorations, special menu items, costumes, plus special events and parties all around the towns. To learn all the spooky details, visit the Douglas Halloween Website. You don’t want to miss it!
