There Is Magic In Virtue’s Winter Events

Virtue Cider definitely knows how to put the magic into the winter season in West Michigan. To start out the new year, our friends at nearby Virtue Cider are focusing on creating a Sustainable New Year with events that center on cultivating the self and the Earth. We love this concept and always enjoy the fest, the magic, and the fun happening at Virtue. And, it’s only a short drive from Wickwood Inn.

Their weekend activities continue with their ever-popular and always interesting Hygge DIY  Series (Pronounced HOO’-Guh, a Danish word for coziness and warmth) where you can learn a cozy indoor craft while sipping cider. Upcoming Hygge DIY events include: Beeswax Candle Making, Seed Starting, and Embroidery. These events are fun, informative, and include a pint of your favorite cider.

~William Blake

Later this month, they’ll be celebrating the anniversary of the state of Michigan. That’s right, it’s a birthday party for the state of Michigan on on Jan. 26. There will be cupcakes and Michigan trivia to test what we really know about this great state.

The Winter Magic experiences continue with Percheron Sleigh Rides and Snowshoe Trail Tours.

  • Percheron Sleigh Rides | Take a sleigh ride through the property, drawn by the beautiful Percheron team of Coach Stop Farm. Capacity of 10 guests per ride. Sleigh rides ALWAYS sell out!
  • Snowshoe & Trails Tour | Experience the real magic of winter with your guided snowshoe tour through the network of winter trails. Afterwards, seal the deal with a cider donut and Lambs Wool cider around the one of the fire pits.

“Here’s to thee, old apple-tree,
Whence thou may’st bud, and whence thou may’st blow,
And whence thou may’st bear apples enow”

~ A. H. Bullen, Cornish Wassail Chant, 1790

Of course, right now we’re eagerly awaiting February’s main event: the 5th Annual Wassail Festival!

This is an event full of magic you don’t want to miss. Join Virtue for its 5th annual traditional march into the apple orchard. Get ready to parade across the farm, among bonfires surrounded by snow to bless our trees for a bountiful 2020 harvest.

Expect horse-drawn sleigh rides, live ice sculpting from the Ice Guru, snowshoe tours, cider, and traditional English fare followed by a live music processional & a proper farm rock show with Jon Langford (of Mekons, Waco Brothers) & 3 Blokes from Chicago.

  • Winter Magic for all ages 12-5pm (snowshoeing, sleigh rides, food, mask-making)
  • Wassail Toast and bonfire lighting at 6:30pm
  • Live Music with Jon Langford & 3 Blokes from Chicago at 7pm
  • Cider, Food & Sleigh Rides sold separately.
